HISTORY

We commenced breeding White Suffolks in 1988. Started as a "hobby", the stud is now an integral part of our farming enterprise and our main focus.
The stud's foundation sheep were purchased from top Suffolk, Poll Dorset and White Suffolk studs including the well renowned Elouera stud dispersal.

Four Suffolk rams, (1 Burwood and 3 Allendale rams) were used over an eleven year period to reinforce a strong and sound Suffolk base (as documented in the breed's flock register book) resulting in approximately half the flock being coloured during those years.

In 1991, Langley Heights 254/90 was purchased in conjunction with Aylesbury Farm and this ram produced some very clean, white sheep with excellent Suffolk type.

In 1992 we purchased Allendale G89/91, a long, deep bodied ram with excellent carcase composition and a wonderful Suffolk ram Allendale 105/91. These two rams had a big influence in our stud in those early years.

In 1993 we commenced showing to promote the breed and our increasing number of ideal white sheep. Successful from the start, our show record reflects the depth of quality and soundness in our breeding flock.

In 1995 we purchased a share in Anden 4.006. This ram's progeny excelled for us at the 1997 Royal Adelaide Show, winning both Champion Ram & Champion Ewe awards, 7 first prize ribbons and Supreme All Breeds Group in a record showing!
A half share in our Champion Ram, Wingamin 887/96 "Shadow" was sold to Allendale stud for $5,000.

Our numerous championships and interbreed wins at major shows is testament to our dedication towards breed excellence.

The stud has been a consistent achiever at major shows attended over many years and has won numerous championships and interbreed ribbons. These include six Champions and three Reserve Champions, Supreme Interbreed Group (4 times) and Most Successful Exhibitor (6 times) at the breeds number one event, the Royal Adelaide Show. Not an easy feat!

Other accolades include champions at the National Field Day shows, at the Australian Sheep and Wool show, Bendigo, Victoria and Supreme Interbreed awards at Hamilton Sheepvention and Bendigo.

The focus of our breeding program remains on meeting high industry standards and in recent years we have been committed to breeding for fast early growth and high muscle content producing hardy and profitable sheep for commercial clients.

In 1999  we introduced via artificial insemination, one of the most influential and successful Poll Dorset rams ever bred - Kurralea 211/98 "Five Star"  into our flock.  This outcross was an extremely positive and necessary step forward for us as we strive to improve the muscle content in our sheep.

He complemented our large framed, coloured ewes to produce very correct sheep for us that did not excessively compromise the wool, type, structure or doing ability of our sheep. His lambs consistently weighed and scanned magnificently with low fat, high muscle content. Nine years have now passed and still "Five Star" descendents and their offspring  jell well with the best available White Suffolks to consistently produce outstanding progeny. Consequently, over the years, grand progeny have easily made the high standard of our show team and have been major award winners at major shows.

Top White Suffolk rams introduced via artificial insemination in recent years include DG 343 "Prestige" Champion ram at the Adelaide and Melbourne Royals in 2002, DG 426 "Fair Dinkum" Champion ram in Adelaide 2003 ($35,000),  DG 208 "Breaker" Champion and Supreme Interbreed ram in Adelaide 2005 (current meat sheep record price holder @ $36,000), DG 050206 "Cracker" Champion and Supreme Interbreed ram Adelaide 2006 and more recently DG "Distinction" 060252 for the 2008 & 2009 lambing.

The stud's mission:
Our intention is to breed strong, hardy and robust rams for the Mallee and beyond that meet high industry standards and display excellent carcase composition, structure and breed type.
